Third installment of the Twilight series sees the Werewolves and Vamps working together. Another good read. Even with the romance, I quite enjoyed this one. |

The second installment in the Twilight series, a little less of the romance sort of stuff perhaps, but still very similar. Not bad. |

After seeing the movie, I expected the book to be significantly different/better, as is usually the case, but in this case, the Book and the Movie are very close to each other, so I wouldn't say there was a huge difference. The book was quite good, but a bit teenage girlish. But given the intended audience, thats no surprise. I quite enjoyed it, and have the rest of the series still to read as well, so will post thoughts on them as well. |

| The Uncanny |
Reasonably interesting horror/occult sort of novel with a bit of historic research thrown in |

I first read this classic novel when I was in high school, over 20 years ago. It amazing the differences between what I remembered, and what was in the book. It was very different to the Movie, and I guess some of what I remembered was a weird combination of them both. Its still a great read though, as it was back in high school ;-) |

This is a collection of Stephen King "mid length" stories, published just after Cujo. The stories include:
The Shawshank redemption was made into a great film, where Tim Robbins did a great job of portraying Andy. The Body was also made into the excellent "Stand by me" movie, with a young River Phoenix the shining light there. This was a great book, not quite typical Stephen King, although all the stories have some "horror" feel to them. Apt Pupil did take a while to get "Gooshy". (read the story, you'll get the reference ;-), but overall, they were all quite readable. |

Finished this a couple of days ago, very interesting look at possible future events, with a bit of conspiracy theory sort of stuff thrown in. Lots of nice ideas and well described environments and people. Pretty good, I thought. |

This was the Second part in the starshield series. While it developed quite well, there's an ongoing feeling that its trying to be funny, but not really succeeding. Defintiely plenty of plot twists and turns, and i'd like to read the third to find otu how it finishes. However, I just discovered that the third book was never released! Oh Noess... |

| The Mantle of Kendis-Dai |
Just finished reading this novel, which introduces quite a few new ideas, including "Quantum Fronts", and "Quantum Regions" within the universe, in which there are differing methods for spaceship propulsion, computers that can send problems back in time and more. Once it got going, it was quite a fun read, but the first 60 pages were a bit tough as it established the background for the story. Luckily, it redeemed itself later on, and it all made sense. |

This was a great read, very "out there" ideas, and lots of sci-fi elements. Highly recommended. |
